71% Of Homeless People In Detox Services Say Addiction Is The Main Reason They Become Homeless.

The average age of clients in residential detox services has dropped, from 49 to 44.

71 per cent of homeless people in detox services say addiction and substance abuse is the primary reason for becoming homeless.

Dublin Simon Community has released its annual report, which says demand for its detox service means waiting times have doubled since 2018.

The wait time in 2018 was 39 days, and that increased to 76 days in 2020.

The average age of clients in residential detox services has dropped, from 49 to 44 over the last five years.
