Age Limit For New Garda Recruits Could Be Increased To 45

File image: Rolling News

It comes amid serious recruitment and retention problems

People aged 45 or 50 may soon be able join the Gardaí.

It's in an effort to address the recruitment and retention crisis within the force.

At the moment you cannot join an Garda Síochána if you're over the age of 35, but the government is reportedly looking to extend the age limit.

The move which has been mooted is being considered, amid serious recruitment and retention problems within the force.

Other changes have been made to the criteria the past 20 years, which included height requirements.
