The UK has asked for a three-month extension to the chilled meats grace period, which is due to expire today.

The European Commission is expected to formally agree to the request this afternoon, which relates to the Northern Ireland protocol.

Dublin MEP Barry Andrews says he's confident of a breakthrough.

The challenge was brought by a group of unionist politicians and was heard in the High Court in Belfast last month.
