The panel, which was appointed by the school's Board of Management
Enoch Burke has raised concerns about the makeup of a panel due to hear his latest challenge against the decision to dismiss him from his teaching role at Wilson's Hospital School.
The panel, which was appointed by the school's Board of Management, is due to hear his appeal in a hotel in Athlone later this week.
Enoch Burke was dismissed for gross misconduct arising from his behaviour after being told of a transitioning student’s desire to be referred to by a new name.
Since then, he has spent a lot of time in court, mostly challenging orders to stay away from the school.
In May, a High Court judge fully vindicated the school’s decision to suspend Enoch pending the outcome of the disciplinary process.
Outside the courtroom, he is also challenging his dismissal through an internal appeal process.
Later this week, he’s due to put his arguments before a Disciplinary Appeal Panel, which is made up of an independent chairperson, as well as a representative of the recognised management body, and a nominee of the relevant teacher union.
However, Enoch has raised concerns about the impartiality of two members of the three-person panel.
He claims those concerns have so far been ignored and wants them to be urgently addressed ahead of the hearing, which is due to take place in Athlone on Friday.
