The Social Democrats are calling for legislation

The Social Democrats have called for legislation to ensure senior HSE officials can lose their jobs if they don't deliver results.

Management of the health service is expected to be a big topic for this week's Dáil proceedings.

Details of a private meeting of Government officials revealed over the weekend suggested fake targets were being set and huge budget errors in the health service.

With HSE boss Paul Reid and head of the Department of Health Robert Watt due before an Oireachtas committee tomorrow.

Social Democrats co-leader Roisin Shortall has said there needs to be consequences for under performing civil servants:
