Mortgage holders on variable rates, are being urged to shop around for a lower fixed rate.
The European Central Bank has raised its interest rates by an unprecedented 0.75 per cent, in a big disappointment to mortgage-holders.
It will add 900 euro to the annual cost of repayments for a typical tracker mortgage.
The ECB increased rates by 0.5 per cent in July - but that wasn't passed on to variable mortgage-holders by the main banks here.
Banks here have yet to decide whether they're passing this one on.
