It represents a 10% increase when compared with figures from 2020.
The number of criminal charges which involved an element of domestic abuse was also up last year by 13 percent, to 8-thousand 6-hundred.
Gardai also reported 4250 breaches of Domestic Violence Act Orders last year, up 6 percent on 2020.

At the start of the pandemic, Gardai launched Operation Faoiseamh to proactively support domestic abuse victims as the country faced its first national lockdown.
