Calls come just hours after the winter moratorium ends.

The Government is being called on to reinstate the eviction ban, just hours after the winter moratorium came to an end.

Housing campaigners warn that thousands evictions notices will come into effect over the next few days.

More than 4,700 eviction notices were issued in the third quarter of last year, according to figures from the Residential Tenancies Board.

219 were issued in Kildare.

Housing reform advocate Macdara Doyle says evictions are the single greatest cause of homelessness in Ireland.
