A man on a motorcycle fired two bullets from a semi-automatic pistol towards a group of men getting out of a taxi in Bawnogue in Clondalkin.
No one was injured during the incident and the scene was sealed off for a technical examination.
No arrests have been made and gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
