Roderic O'Gorman hopes to bring proposals within weeks to buy up the properties as part of plans to create longer-term state-owned reception centres.

The Integration Minister says a number of offers of large buildings have been made as the state looks to turn them into accommodation for asylum seekers.

Roderic O'Gorman hopes to bring proposals within weeks to buy up the properties as part of plans to create longer-term state-owned reception centres.

He says he expects some of them to be up and running over the next number of months.
