The jury in Diarmuid Phelan’s murder trial resumed its deliberations earlier this afternoon.
Mr Phelan, a barrister and Professor of Law at Trinity College Dublin, was accused of murdering Keith Conlon, who was trespassing on his farm in Tallaght in February 2022.
He denied the charge, claiming Mr Conlon was shot accidentally in what he described as a “legitimate act of self-defence.”
The jury had three verdicts open to them: guilty of murder; not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter; or a full acquittal.
