A woman was brought to hospital with serious injuries
A man in his 20s remains in custody after a woman was hit by a car in Ashbourne, Co. Meath.
It happened at around one o'clock on Monday morning and the car failed to remain at the scene.
The woman - who is in her 50s - was brought to Connolly Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
Another man in his 20s who was arrested as part of the investigation has since been released without charge.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
