The victim was stabbed with a scissors to the neck, chest and abdomen.
A 31-year-old man who pleaded guilty to the assault of a doctor in Dublin City Centre in 2021 has apologised to his victim.
Christopher Coakley, of Empress Place, Dublin 1, admitted to the attack on January 28th, 2021 at Seville Place in the north inner city.
The victim of this attack, a doctor who used to work at Mountjoy Prison, was stabbed by a scissors to the neck, chest and abdomen.
Barrister Karl Finnegan BL for the DPP read out his victim impact statement, saying the attack by Mr Coakley and the injuries meant he couldn't do any physical activity for two months.
He added he had heightened anxiety, actively avoided the area which the attack happened, and that the attack played a part in his decision to get a different job.
Michael O'Higgins SC for the defence read out an apology from Mr Coakley to the victim, saying it was a 'horrendous crime'.
He added he was under the influence of cannabis and cocaine, saying it was 'no excuse'.
He'll be sentenced later this month.
