It's taking people up to 16 weeks to get information on their past
701 people are on the waiting list for the adoption information and tracing service.
It has risen by 150 in the space of six months, according to Tusla's latest figures.
The service allows adopted children, birth parents and relatives to seek information about their past.
Chairperson of the Oireachtas children's committee, Kathleen Funchion, says the delays are unacceptable.
It's taking people up to 16 weeks to get information on their past - twice as long as Tusla's target.
Deputy Funchion says delays aren't the only problem with the service
