National Council for Curriculum and Assessment has put forward the proposal.

Primary school students could learn foreign languages as early as third class under new proposals to change the curriculum.

The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment has published a new framework, which would see reduced teaching time for religious education.

It would also see an emphasis on wellbeing and technology.

A consultation period has opened for parents, teachers and children until February 2022
