Two boys aged 12 and 15 were arrested on suspicion of rioting
The SDLP has condemned violence in west Belfast last night, which it says broke out during a protest against the Northern Ireland Protocol.
Police say disorder, involving both sides of the community, broke out during a small protest in the Lanark Way area.
Officers were deployed to the Springfield Road and Lanark Way areas from around 5pm, where disorder continued for several hours.
Items were burnt on the roads and missiles were thrown at officers and their vehicles.
Two boys aged 12 and 15 were arrested on suspicion of rioting - they've since been released on bail.
Thinking of all the families livng along Belfast’s Peaceline this evening. I have spent many days with them, listening to their fear, their desire to live in peace. The people who call protests on the Peaceline care nothing of the consequences. Hoping peace reigns tonight pic.twitter.com/g1bjQTYBfM
