Ó Fearghaíl wrote to all members last week informing them of the increase, which would also be available retrospectively to those who have already had work carried out.
The security allowance for TDs and Senators is to increase from €5k to €25k.
It follows a review conducted by Kildare South TD and outgoing Ceann Comhairle, Seán Ó Fearghaíl, before the Dail wrapped up in November.
The money can be used to install panic buttons, increase wall heights, install CCTV and intruder alarms.
Ó Fearghaíl wrote to all members last week informing them of the increase, which would also be available retrospectively to those who have already had work carried out.
Ó Fearghaíl is putting his name forward again for the €250k a year Ceann Comhairle role.
Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael will meet today. It is expected that they will agree a position on who to support for the role when it is voted on tomorrow.
