Seventh Man Arrested In Connection With Cocaine Seizure In Cork

A military operation involving the Naval Service and the Army Ranger Wing seized an estimated 157 million euro worth of drugs.

A seventh man has been arrested in connection with the seizure of cocaine off the Cork coast this week.

All seven are detained as part of the same investigation at Garda stations in the Southern Region.

An operation to recover the trawler suspected of being involved in the smuggling of the drugs is taking place off the coast of Wexford.

The 'Castlemore' ran aground on a sandbank off Blackwater on Sunday night after leaving Castletownbere in West Cork two nights previously.

Two men on board the vessel were arrested and remain in custody.
