Social Justice Ireland is renewing its call to the government to ditch the credits as a means of helping people with the cost of living.
Under Budget 2023 measures, all households are receiving a 600 euro deduction in their electricity bills - with the final 200 euro instalment to come before the end of April.
Fianna Fáil senator Eugene Murphy has already suggested another credit will be needed next winter.
But Michelle Murphy from Social Justice Ireland says there are other, much more effective ways of supporting lower-income households:
