Busy Day Ahead Of Local Championship Action, With Nine Games To Be Played

With Kildare and Allenwood legend Johnny Doyle announced his retirement from club football at the age of 46

It's another busy day of local championship action, with nine games to be played.

In the Auld Shebeen Bar Athy Intermediate Football Championship Group D, Two Mile House play Suncroft and Caragh play Kilcullen.

Both games throw-in at 12 o'clock.

In Group B, at 2 o'clock, Ballyteague play St Kevin's and it's Round Towers versus Castledermot.

In the Joe Mallon Motors Senior Football Championship Group C, Johnstownbridge play Raheens at the same time.

At 4 o'clock, Confey play Eadestown and Sarsfields play Naas in Group A.

Then, at 6, Kilcock play Maynooth and it's Moorefield against Clane.

Kfm will have live coverage of the games in an extended Sport Special until 8 o'clock, in association with Pat Keogh Skoda Ballybrittas, the Midland's No. 1 Skoda Dealer since 1996.

In the Senior Championship:

Carbury 0-9 St Laurence's 0-6

Celbridge 2-16 Clogherinkoe 1-7

Athy 5-9 Allenwood 1-13

Following the game, Kildare and Allenwood legend Johnny Doyle announced his retirement from club football at the age of 46.

He has played at the top level for his club since 1995 and even after his inter-county retirement in 2014, he continued to wear the Sky Blue jersey for the last 10 years.

Last year he helped Allenwood to the Intermediate Championship title.

In the Intermediate Championship yesterday it finished:

Leixlip 3-11 Rathangan 1-15

Sallins 4-13 Straffan 1-6

Monasterevan 1-13 Ballymore Eustace 0-11

Milltown 3-12 Nurney 1-5

There are two more Premier League games to be played this afternoon.

At 2 o'clock, Arsenal play Spurs in the North London derby.

Then, at 4.30, Wolves play Newcastle.

Rory McIlroy is the man to catch as we head into the final day of the Irish Open at Royal County Down.

The Northern Irishman leads by a shot on 6 under par as he gets his Sunday underway from just after 1pm this afternoon.

McIlroy is looking for his first ever win on home soil and his first win on the island of Ireland since 2016.

There are 4 Group 1s down for decision with the Comer Group International Irish St Leger the feature of the day.

That one goes to post at 4:45pm with the first of the 8 racecard off at ten to 2.
