Brentford have signed former Burnley captain Ben Mee on a free transfer.

The defender has agreed a two-year contract with the Londoners.

Elsewhere, Dwight Gayle has left Newcastle to join Championship club Stoke on a two-year deal.

The striker spent six years at St James' Park after arriving from Crystal Palace in July 2016.

CRICKET

Ireland will look to avoid a series whitewash against New Zealand later.

They play the visitors in the third and final T-20 match of the series, having lost the first two encounters.

Play is due to get underway at Stormont at 4pm.

RACING

The going is good, good to firm in places this morning ahead of a seven-race meeting at Cork, where the first is off at 5.15pm.

It’s a half-five start for Down Royal’s seven-race card.
