It's strategy is to set a goal of winning between 8 to 10 medals at the 2024 and 2028 Olympic Games.

But organisations such as The Irish Athletic Boxing Association the lack of funding for facilities is causing young people to leave sport.

Central Council Member Anna Moore says more funding is needed to secure future medals.

Team Ireland will bring home two gold medals this year, after Kellie Harrington won in the lighweight boxing final yesterday.

Her brother Christopher says the local community is thrilled.

A proposal has been submitted for Kellie Harrington to receive the freedom of Dublin city.

Local councillor Nial Ring says it would be appropriate, as no boxer has currently been awarded the city's highest honour
