Four of Ireland's boxers will begin their bid for a medal from the last 16 stage
Kellie Harrington (Lightweight 60kg female) and Michaela Walsh (Featherweight 57kg female) were already poised to receive byes into the last 16 prior to the draw.
Aidan Walsh (Welterweight 69kg male) received a bye into the last 16 of the men's welterweight, while Aoife O'Rourke (Middleweight 75kg female) will also begin in the last 16 in the women's middleweight.
Emmett Brennan(Light Heavyweight 81kg male) is in the ring on Sunday, with Brendan Irvine (Flyweight 52kg male) beginning his Olympic campaign early on Monday morning.
Kurt Walker (Featherweight 57kg male) was the first first Irish fighter in action, early this morning. He faced Spanish opposition in the form of Jose Quiles Brotons, and came away with a decisive 5-0 win. He is now through to the last 16, and boxes again on Wednesday.
