The Lilywhites were beaten by Laois on a scoreline of 2-11 to 0-12 in O'Connor Park, Tullamore.
It brings a dismal season to a finish, after Kildare were also relegated to Division 3.
Following the defeat, Glenn Ryan announced his resignation as manager.
Laois will now play Antrim in the semi final, while Down play Sligo in the other semi.
