Mixed Weekend For Kildare GAA Teams In League Openers

Defeat for the hurlers and women footballers, while the mens footballers began with a win

It was a mixed weekend for Kildare teams in GAA action. 

The senior footballers got their Allianz National Football League Division 3 campaign off to a winning start, beating Fermanagh 2-24 to 1-12. 

Next up is a trip away to Sligo on Sunday at 2 o’clock. 

The hurlers began their Division 2 season with a defeat against Down. 

The full time score in Ballycran was 2-19 to 22 points. 

Kildare play Kerry in Newbridge on Saturday. 

The Kildare ladies footballers also suffered defeat in their opening league game yesterday. 

They were beaten by Waterford in Division 1 on a scoreline of 1-13 to 2-7. 

Dublin are the opponents for the Lilywhites this coming weekend. 

Monday morning’s Kildare Today programme from 10.45 and Kildare Scoreboard show from 6.25pm will review all the action in more detail.
