UPMC/GAA/LGFA/Camogie/GPA launch Concussion Testing; U23 football semi final tonight; Japan v Croatia; Brazil v Korea World Cup 16; Gatland Appointed Wales Head Coach

UPMC has joined with the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), Ladies Gaelic Football Association (LGFA), The Camogie Association and the Gaelic Players Association (GPA) to roll out a concussion Baseline testing programme to inter-county players across 32 counties – with the goal of rapidly diagnosing and treating concussions in players.

Baseline concussion testing will be provided to all inter-county players across Ireland, and these players will also be covered for concussion physician specialist treatment.

This will be delivered using the ImPACT concussion testing model, evidence-based, neurocognitive assessment software co-developed by UPMC concussion specialists.

ImPACT, which stands for Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment & Cognitive Testing, is an objective tool to support trained clinicians in making return-to-activity decisions following concussions.

The Whitewater Shopping Centre U23 football semi final takes place tonight.

Wales have reappointed Warren Gatland as head coach after parting ways with Wayne Pivac (pee-vac).

The Welsh Rugby Union confirmed Pivac's departure following their review of Wales’ Autumn Nations Series campaign that included a home defeat against Georgia.

Wales won 13 of 34 Tests under Pivac after he succeeded his fellow New Zealander Gatland following the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

Gatland now makes an extraordinary return to the post he held between 2008 and 2019, during which time Wales won four Six Nations titles, including three Grand Slams, reached two Rugby World Cup semi-finals and briefly headed the world rankings.

He will take charge of Wales for next year’s Six Nations and World Cup
