Caragh and Ellistown progress in the Leinster championships

Naas are Kildare Senior hurling champions for the 6th time in a row, and
completed the hurling/football senior double.
In yesterday's final, they beat Maynooth by 3-20 to 0-12 to clinch their
12th senior title overall.
Naas will play Wexford champions St Martin's in Manguard Park in a
fortnight.
Maynooth have won 6 senior titles, the last one in 1939.
Their top scorer yesterday was David Qualter with 8 points: five from frees.

The last club to achieve the Kildare hurling 6 in a row, previous to Naas
doing it yesterday, is Clane.
Clane is the most successful team in the tournament's history, having won it
16 times, but the last time was in 1922.
Clane completed a 9 in a row between 1903 and 1911. Their 6 in a row was
from 1914 to 1919 inclusive.
On Saturday in the Leinster Intermediate Club football championship, Caragh
beat Meath Hill in Manguard Park, Hawkfield by 0-11 to 0-6
In the quarter final, Caragh will play Kilkenny's Dicksboro in Freshford at
1.30pm next Saturday

In the Leinster club Junior championship, Ellistown beat Castletown,
Finea, Coole, Whitehall in Kinnegad 0-5 points to 0-4

Ellistown play Grattan Og of Longford next Saturday in Manguard Park at
3.30.
Originally fixed for 2pm, the change of time to 3.30 is to avoid a
fixture clash, because Moorefield hurlers are down to play Castletown of
Laois in the Junior championship also on Saturday in Hawkfield at 1.30

England prop Joe Marler announced his retirement from international rugby
yesterday.
The 34-year-old retires from international rugby with 95 caps, a World Cup
runners-up medal from 2019 and three Six Nations titles.
35 years old, Peter O'Mahony joined the Ireland squad in Portugal
yesterday morning, ahead of next Friday's test against the All Blacks.
Up to Saturday's first half appearance against an All Blacks 15, the former
Ireland captain had only played 20 minutes this season. He's now expected
to play against the All Blacks.
The All Blacks will be without Beauden Barrett and Codie Taylor after
suffering head injuries in Saturday's win over England.
