Monday Sports Update: Maynooth Win U23 A Football Title.

Manchester City could face the prospect of relegation from the Premier League if found guilty of breaking financial rules.

Maynooth defeated Naas in the 2022 U23 A Football Final yesterday afternoon.

In an enthralling encounter, the game finished 1-12 apiece at the end of normal time.

Maynooth kicked on in extra time and won by a single point, 1-14 to 1-13.

It was a mixed weekend for Kildare intercounty teams this weekend.

The hurlers continued their fine form with a comfortable win over Carlow on Saturday, while the ladies footballers made it 3 wins from 3 in Division 3 of the NFL, with a two point victory over Clare yesterday.

The senior men’s footballers suffered their second league defeat in a row on Sunday, losing out to Cork in St Conleth’s Park.

The full time score was Cork 2-14 Kildare 0-7, with the Lilywhites only registering two points in the first half.

Next up for Kildare is a trip to Ennis to play Clare on the 19th of February.

Manchester City could face the prospect of relegation from the Premier League if found guilty of breaking financial rules.

City were yesterday charged with over 100 alleged breaches of the Premier League's rules.

The club has denied all wrongdoing, and says they have a 'body of irrefutable evidence' to defend themselves.

The matter has now been referred to an independent commission.

All of those games kick-off at 7.45pm.

At the same time, Wrexham will look to continue their fairytale as they make the trip to Bramall Lane to take on Sheffield United.
