Naas are Senior Hurling Champions: 6 In a Row! Weekend Leinster football wins for Caragh and Ellistown

Naas are Kildare Senior hurling champions for the 6th time in a row, and completed the hurling/football senior double.
 
In Sunday's final, hey beat Maynooth by 3-20 to 0-12 to clinch their 12th senior title overall
 
Therir goals by Jack Sheridan in the first half (man of the match), and in the 2nd half from team captain Brian Byrne and Cathal Dowling

David Qualter was the Maynooth top scorer with 8 points (5 from frees.

The last club to achieve the Kildare 6 in a row, previous to Naas doing it is Clane.

Clane is the most successful team in the tournament's history, having won it 16 times, but the last time was in 1922. 

Clane completed a 9 in a row between 1903 and 1911. Their 6 in a row was from 1914 to 1919 inclusive.. 


Maynooth have won 6 senior titles, the last one in 1939. 
 
Naas will play Wexford champions St Martin's in Manguard Park in a fortnight.
 
The long wait for the title since their last win in 1939 continues for Maynooth.

On Saturday in the Leinster Intermediate Club football championship, Caragh  beat  Meath Hill in Manguard Park, Hawkfield  by 0-11 to 0-6 
 
In the quarter final, Caragh will play Kilkenny's Dicksboro in Freshford at 1.30pm next Saturday

 In the Leinster club Junior championship, Ellistown  beat  Castletown, Finea, Coole, Whitehall in Kinnegad  l0-5 points to 0-4

They play Grattan Og of Longford next Saturday in Manguard Park at 3.30

Also, next Saturday in Hawkfield, Moorefield hurlers play Castletown of Laois in the Junior championship at 1.30pm.

In the Leinster senior football club championship, St Loman's of Mullingar, coached by Moorefield's Philie Wolfe, beat Meath champions Dunshaughlin 2-17 to 2-4 to secure their quarter-final place 
 
St Mary's Ardee beat Longford's Abbeylara 3-14 to 2-8.

Wicklow championsTinahely beat Laois' Portarlington 2-5 to 0-10
 
Kildare football champions Naas play Dublin champions Cuala next Saturday night at 7.15 in Manguard Park.
