Naas Play Maynooth In The UPMC Senior Hurling Championship Final This Afternoon

Following last weekend’s county football final, attention turns to the UPMC Senior Hurling Championship final this afternoon.

Naas, who are chasing their sixth title in a row, play Maynooth in Cedral St Conleth’s Park.

Throw-in is at 2 o’clock and Kfm will have live commentary with Seamus Dillon and Kildare hurling goalkeeper Paddy McKenna, in association with Typo Coffee, Moyglare Road, Maynooth.

Yesterday's results involving Kildare teams are as follows:

In the Leinster Intermediate Football it finished Caragh 0-11 Meath Hill 0-6.

In the Junior: Ellistown 0-5  Castletown Finea Coole Whitehall 0-4.

In the Ladies Junior Semi Final: Kilcock 2-8 Muckalee 1-9.

SOCCER

Liverpool are top of the Premier League this morning after they came from behind to beat Brighton 2-1 yesterday.

Manchester City suffered their first defeat of the season as they were beaten 2-1 at Bournemouth.

Elsewhere Arsenal fell to 7 points off the leaders after suffering a 1-0 defeat away at Newcastle.

Interim Manchester United manager Ruud van Nistelrooy takes charge of his first Premier League match this afternoon.

The former striker leads his side in their clash with Chelsea later after a big win over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup during the week

The Red Devils face the Blues with kick off at Old Trafford at 4:30pm.

Before that, Tottenham are looking to build on their win over Manchester City in midweek.

They are at home against Aston Villa in the 2pm kick off.

Celtic are through to the Scottish League Cup final.

They put in a fantastic performance to thrash Aberdeen 6-nil at Hampden Park.

Motherwell face holders Rangers in the second semi this afternoon.

 

RUGBY

England prop Joe Marler has retired from international rugby after winning 95 international caps.

He was named in their squad for the current Autumn Nations series but left the camp earlier this week for personal reasons.

Head coach Steve Borthwick says he has been an "outstanding servant to English rugby".

He'll continue to play for Premiership side Harlequins until the end of the season.
 

 

RACING

There's racing at the Curragh and Cork this afternoon.

The first of the 8 racecard in the Curragh goes to post at 12:25pm.

The 7 racecard kicks off in Cork then just before 12:40pm.
