It occurred ahead of the Champions League final.

The chief of the Paris police force has apologised after Liverpool and Real Madrid supporters were tear-gassed ahead of the Champions League final.

Didier Lallement's told a parliamentary hearing in France the security operation was a "failure".

French authorities have blamed the delayed kick-off earlier this month on fans trying to enter the stadium with fake tickets.

UEFA's carrying out an independent review of the circumstances.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have confirmed striker Divock Origi will leave the club at the end of the month.

The Belgian scored 41 goals in his 175 appearances since joining in 2015.

Loris Karius, Sheyi Ojo and Ben Woodburn will also depart Anfield this summer.
