Sharlene Mawdsley Pulls Out Of Individual 400-Metre Heat At The European Athletics Indoor Championships

The Tipperary woman ran a split of 49.93 in her mixed relay last night but was unable to take her place at the start line due to a slight hamstring problem

Sharlene Mawdsley pulled out of her individual 400-metre heat at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in the Netherlands this morning.

The Tipperary woman ran a split of 49.93 in her mixed relay last night but was unable to take her place at the start line due to a slight hamstring problem.

Lauren Cadden missed out in her 400-metre heat after she came 6th, and despite running a P-B Rachel McCann was unable to book her place in the semi.

Earlier, Cian McPhillips was reinstated as a qualifier after he was brought down in a chaotic first heat of the men's 800-metres earlier this hour.

He will be joined by fellow Irishman Mark English in tomorrow's semi-final after he muscled his way through the group to run a time of 1:46.42.

Limerick's Sarah Lavin returns for her semi-final in the 60-metre hurdles at a quarter-to-1.
