SOCCER

Crystal Palace have reappointed Roy Hodgson as their manager until the end of the season.

The 75 year old ex England boss was in charge of the Eagles between September 2017 and May 2021.

Hodgson replaces Patrick Vieira, who was sacked last week.

The club lie three points above the Premier League relegation zone.

Irishman Paddy McCarthy will act as Hodgson's assistant.

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to sack manager Antonio Conte (pr: Con-tay) this week.

The Italian launched an extraordinary rant at his players in the press conference after Saturday's draw at Southampton.

Conte's contract expires in the summer, but the club are set to act now.

Ryan Mason could take temporary charge until the end of the season.

Tottenham lie fourth in the Premier League, two points clear of Newcastle United and five ahead of Liverpool, but both clubs have two games in hand.

It's thought there could be as many as eight bidders for Manchester United before tomorrow evening's deadline for second offers.

The most notable bids are expected to come from Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Both held talks with United last week.

RUGBY

Scott Robertson will succeed Ian Foster as head coach of New Zealand rugby after the World Cup.

The Crusaders coach has signed a four year deal with the All Blacks from the start of next year until the end of the 2027 World Cup.

Johnny Sexton is a doubt for Leinster's Champions Cup game against Ulster at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday week.

The Ireland skipper picked up a groin injury at the end of the Grand Slam game against England at the weekend.

HORSE RACING

There's a meeting over jumps at Clonmel today with the first off at 1.55.
