John Colgan is living for 52 years (2021) in Leixlip. He is an engineer and economist by training and education. Since buying the 290 year old Toll House on the Liffey Bridge in 1991, he became as a local historian and a Colgan genealogist.
He’s the author of Leixlip, County Kildare – 92 topics, 300 pages, and articles in the Journal of the Co Kildare Archaeological Society, the Liffey Champion and elsewhere, as well as giving regular talks on related topics.
He led the campaign to establish a town council in Leixlip, which was secured in 1988, the last one set up in Ireland.
